12 May 2012

So here I am once again awake throughout the night,

The shift was long and slow with one small, little fight

The drinks were flowing freely as they poured them with no care,

The only thing I wanted was to be someplace elsewhere

The smile plastered on my mouth was one through gritted teeth,

These drunken louts were all around giving me some grief!

The wheel was spinning fast while waiting for the ball to land,

I wish I could just go home oh now that would be just grand.

Alas, the clock is slowing as I call out no more bets,

Are these drunk people still here? Why aren't they gone yet?

The money passes to me as I count it note for note,

And still they keep on pouring straight down their throat.

Roulette, blackjack and several games of poker

The one card that's missing here seems to be the joker.

And finally the time has come for me to go home and sleep,

Although it is a promise to myself I never keep.

Working in casinos is too much for my brain

There you are my friend..

Insomnia we meet again.
