He's got a show just north of Phoenix. She'll drive twenty five miles to get there. Just to see his face and maybe say hello. He's a sleep in the back of his tour bus. Rolling down the interstate line. Dreaming about someone he once knew And he wants to know again.
He'd always dreamed of leaving. That small Kentucky life And not long after he life. She went off to school To get a degree and starts a family. That would soon fall apart.
Now she's got a seat in the front row. When he starts singing a song. She knows the words that he'll sing. And she starts singing along. Then he sings a song that he wrote for her. But when they were friends.
He looks down and sees her singing. Forgets the line of his song. They both and he smiles hello. And it's just like time stood still.

She looks at him with a sparkle gone from her eyes. "I can't leave won't you now. I've got so much going on. I've got a baby boy who needs his ma'am. And you've got this life on the road." He says "Your right it's just not our time." As she walks out the door.
