In a child's mind, Everything is fine. Those people in suits Are robots walking in a line. No worries in their heads Except the scary monsters Underneath their beds. They love Mommy, Daddy And Teddy Bear. Smiles spread And tempers flare, They scream and shout, Heart on their sleeve Even when they pout. Gramma gave big hugs. Certain words didn't exist. Like murder, rape, and drugs. At first I though how great! But what happens when they're grown? A wicked turn of fate. Cancer got gramma long ago. Monsters are outside. Big knives, sniffing snow. Mommy got in an accident. Now she's with gramma. And crazy daddy went. He ran and hid I called him one day. He said "F*** you, kid" Then I thought, What growing up does to kids...

Bobby started smoking weed, No longer has a house. Lost the deed. Suzy learned the word rape The hard way. Timmy doesn't wear his cape. He doesn't feel like a hero. In high school, He got a big zero. Little Carry tried to fly! She jumped out a window. People said she wanted to die, Jimmy does too! He cuts his wrists, Out comes red goo. Lily ran out of money, So she sells herself. At nights new men call her honey.

I started sobbing, out came tears. I knew I'd be there In a matter of years. No it's not fine, Cuz we're all just robots Walking in a line.
