18 September 2012
So I was walking,
This lovely, starry night.
I was only a block a away from home.
Saw a man seeking a fight.
He demanded money,
I explained I had none,
Next thing I know,
He pulled out a gun.
He let out a chuckle.
With a wicked grin,
Though we were 10 feet away,
His breath smelt like gin.
I hardly heard a gun shot,
But in a second I was on the ground.
In a daze I looked at my chest,
You can guess what I found,
A bullet hole pouring blood.
My vision was going dim.
I heard sirens in the distance.
I knew my fate was grim.
The man stood over me.
The same grin on his face.
He heard the sirens too.
Down the side walk he raced.
Soon he was eaten by the dark.
I could feel myself growing cold.
I didn't understand how this happened.
I was good, I did what I was told.
But I still saw,
My blood sparkling in the moon.
I tried to scream.
But my voice was soft and out of tune.
So I laid there.
And said silent goodbyes.
I suddenly felt tired.
So I slowly closed my eyes.
Still as a statue
I lied.
And as simple as that,
I died.
