Chapter 2 (part 2)
I woke up the next more very refreshed. I sat up in bed and stretched. Last night came to my mind and a huge grin spread across my face. It disappeared immediately when I realized what I had done. That was Jared I was kissing. I don't like him that much. We're just friends and it's going to stay like that. What was I thinking? Jared and I can't be a couple. I'm in love with his brother for crying out loud! I pressed my fists against my eyes and rubbed–hard.
What am I going to do? How am I supposed to face him in a couple hours? I have to tell him that it can't go anywhere. I can't date him because he's not the one for me. Tony isn't the one for me either, though. Somewhere out there, there's a guy that's my soulmate. He's the one that I'm going to spend the rest of my life with. I don't need to have a relationship when I could stumble across my soulmate at any time. What if I've already seen him, just not met him? What if he's been to Sweet Tooth but I've never actually talked to him?
I called Mrs. Sheffield and told her that I couldn't come in today. I know I'm supposed to give her notice or something, but she understands. If I hadn't known her for a long time, I never would have been able to get off time. I'm glad she let me stay home. I just can't face Jared yet. I need to figure out what I'm going to say first. I jumped in my car and started driving. I don't know where I'm going to go. I kept driving until I pulled beside a park.
I sat on the bench outside for twenty minutes, just sitting. I heard giggling and looked to my left. Jerica and Alec were walking hand in hand towards me. They didn't notice me until they were right beside me.
"Hey sista! Haven't heard from you in a long time!" Jerica squealed and hugged me. I hugged her back just as ferociously. "Alec, you remember Morgan, right?"
"Of course! Dimitri misses you." He said and laughed. I groaned and laughed with them. Jerica pulled herself away from me and snuggled up against Alec.
"Are you two serious?" I asked at the way they acted. They practically looked inseparable. They had their arms around each other and they were as close as they could possibly get. They looked at each other with nothing but love in their eyes.
"I love him." Jerica said and smiled at him.
"And I, you." He said and pressed his finger against her nose. He giggled and kissed his finger. I looked at them sadly. That's the kind of relationship I want.
"It's only been a few weeks. Are you sure you love each other?" I asked.
"Of course!" Jerica said and looked at me like I was crazy.
"If you say so." Jerica has never rushed into a relationship before. I don't think she's actually ever been in love. She even made fun of me for saying I love Tony.
"How are you and Tony doing?" She asked me. I looked away and stared at the ground. Her arms came around me and hugged me to her.
"I haven't talked to him in two weeks. We're definitely not a couple anymore."
"I'm so sorry. If I would've known, I wouldn't of said anything."
"No, it's fine. I've been a little busy myself."
"Why don't you come back to my house so we can hang out for a little bit?" Alec asked. I smiled at the offer. Maybe it would be good for me to get out.
"Long time no see." Dimitri purred when I walked in the door.
"I would have liked to keep it that way." I said back to him.
"Aw, don't be like that." He said and sauntered up to me. He grabbed my arm and I let out a squeak. I ripped my arm away and there was an angry red hand print.
"What the hell?" I said and rubbed my hand over it. He was looking at his hand.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that..."
"What do you mean? You burnt me!" How could he burn me with his hand?
"That's never happened before." He was saying to himself.
"What's never happened before?" I asked angrily. I could feel the water trying to come out of my finger tips. I wanted to heel myself but I couldn't with him in the room.
"I really didn't mean to hurt you." He said and tried to touch my arm again. I pulled away from him before he could. There's only one explanation as to why he can burn me. No way...
"How did you burn me?" I asked my sternly.
"What do you mean?" He asked suspiciously.
"I mean, are you a..." I trailed off.
"Are you one?!" He reciprocated.
"That depends, are we talking about the same thing?"
He shoved his hands out to the side and fire lit them up. Zane walked around the corner and stared at us.
"What the hell are you doing?!" He hissed at Dimitri. He rushed over and covered his hands.
"I was just showing her." Dimitri said and looked at me.
"It's just a little magic trick he learned." Zane said and smiled at me. I didn't smile back, though. Instead I lifted my hand and created a ball of water. They both stared at me without saying anything. I smiled at them then fixed the burn mark on my arm.
"I still want to know why you burned me."
"I really didn't mean to! I swear!" He said but I didn't believe him.
"You burned her?" Zane asked him.
"I really didn't mean to."
"I know why. So you found your soulmate?" Zane asked with a smile. My face was far from a smile though.
"No, I haven't. What would that have to do with him burning me?"
"It's like sending a warming. He touched you and it burned him and you so it tells him that you don't belong to him. You're already taken. That's basically what it means. It only happens if you've found your soulmate, though."
"Well I think it made a mistake because I haven't imprinted." I said sadly.
Zane was about to say something but Jerica's laughing stopped him. She was laughing very loudly. We walking into the living room and she was being tickled by Alec.
"Alright you two love birds, get a room. Not all of us have imprinted." Zane said with a smile. My jaw dropped. They were imprinted?! Alec and Jerica's face were both in a panicked looked. I just smiled at them. They still didn't know that I was a Tamer too.
"I knew there was something that wasn't just love going on." I said.
"You know?" Jerica asked. I created a swirling ball of water that wrapped itself around me.
"Of course I know." I said and laughed as it tickled my cheek. Jerica's jaw had dropped and she was just staring at me. I laughed at her expression and hugged her. Now I can still have her as a best friend, with no secrets!
