Chapter 1 (part 10)
Why does all this water keep flying everywhere around me? This is the second time it's happened when I get mad. My door flew open and my dad came in.
"Be careful!" I said before he could come in. He stopped in the doorway. "There is glass everywhere. My vase just flew into a million pieces." My dad rubbed his jaw and looked stressed out.
"I think it's time we talk." He said and beckoned me out of my room. I slipped on my shoes so I wouldn't get glass in my foot. I walked down the stairs and my mom and brother were sitting on the couches. Why were they all here? Ono, I'm going to get the birds and the bees talk. I can already feel it.
"You've been noticing strange things, haven't you?" My dad asked when I sat down. Strange things?
"Like what?" I asked questioningly.
"It has to do with water." Brian said. Why does my brother even have to be here? Whatever it is, it doesn't concern him.
"What do you mean it has to do with water?" I asked again.
"I say we just break the ice." Brian said.
"We can't do that. She would never speak to us again." My mom said.
"Hey guys, I'm right here." I said and waved my hands. They were acting like I wasn't even in the room. Then all of the sudden I saw a big glob of water coming towards my face. It looked like a fireball but with water instead. I put my hands up to shield my face, but it never hit. I glanced between my fingers and it was two inches away from my face... Just sitting in midair. What?
I put my hands down and the water dropped in my lap. I shot up off the couch.
"What the heck?!" I yelled and looked down at my soaked clothes. My brother was just laughing his ass off.
"We're called Tamers." My dad said.
"What do you mean? I'm pretty sure we're called human." I joked. My dad lifted his hand and water appeared in midair, floating above his hand.
"What the hell?" I said but my mom gave me a stern look. "I meant heck."
"We can tame water. Water bends at our will. We can make it do whatever we want it to. We can drown someone who isn't in water. We can make it flow over someones skin. We can throw it, we can freeze it. We can create a ball of water around someone. We can do so many things. We can heal a Water Tamer with water. You can't can't heal a different Tamer with water."
"Wait, are you serious? How are you doing that?" I asked and touched the water. It crawled into my hand and flowed over my body. It just kept growing. It covered every inch of my. It was possibly the coolest thing ever.
"This is so cool!" I said. My brother just laughed at me and froze the water. It looked like I had white ice all over my body. It got freezing and I started to scrape it off. It didn't take much before it turned back water and fell to the floor.
"I told you we should just break the ice." Brian said to my mom. She just nodded and made the water come out of the carpet. She shot it into the kitchen and I'm sure it went into the sink.
"That's not all though. There are different Tamers. There are Water Tamers, Fire Tamers, Earth Tamers, and Wind Tamers. They can do what we do, but with their element."
"Why didn't you tell me before?" I asked. I already except this. I've seen it with my own eyes, so how could I not?
"We wanted to tell you when you became aware that you had the ability. That's what we did with Brian."
"Do I know anyone else that's a Tamer?" I asked.
"Jared is a Tamer. His family is one and they are the Earth Tamers."
"Jared is one?! Seriously?! Does he know that I'm one?"
"Yes. He has the ability to tell who's a Tamer. There are few in the world with that ability. It's to his advantage.
"He can tell if he should be on his guard. Not all Tamers are nice and they use their ability to harm people." My dad said.
"So how can I do this stuff?" I asked and lifted my hand.
"It takes a lot of practice and patience. You have to work on it a lot before you can bend it. It's not easy to Tame water." My mom said. I lifted my hand to the ceiling and willed water to come to my hand. The next thing I know, a glob of water is floating to me from the kitchen. I open my mouth and it goes right in.
"I could get used to this." I said after I swallowed. My brother, mom, and dad were sitting there with open mouths. "What?"
"It normally takes a person months to perfect that. That's amazing." My dad said.
"You're very strong." My mom commented.
"There's another thing." Brian said.
"Right. There's a thing called imprinting. It's where your soul is a perfect match for someone else's. It's almost like you're made for each other. When you meet this person, you will imprint with them. It'll feel like your other half. You will have everything in common. You'll love them and your whole world with gravitate around that one person." My dad said while staring at my mom. I smiled at them. I always knew they made a perfect couple.
"How will you know if you've imprinted?"
"You'll feel it, you'll see. Trust me, you'll know when you've imprinted." My mom said with a dreamy look on her face.
"So can I imprint with anyone?" I asked.
"That's the thing. You can only imprint with someone who has the same ability. You can't imprint with a Fire Tamer or anyone else. Your soulmate is a Water Tamer." My dad said.
"What if I never find my soulmate?"
"You will most likely find your soulmate. The only way is if he gets killed before you find him. That most likely hasn't happened yet."
"What if he did get killed? I couldn't marry anyone else?"
"You can marry any person you want to. Normally we won't because you'd leave the person you married when you find your soulmate. Your body will imprint with them wether you want it to or not, and trust me, you'll want it."
"Have you found yours?" I asked Brian. He shook his head and grinned.
"I can have more fun until I find her." He said and winked. My mom turned to him and slapped him on the arm.
"That is not how we raised you!" She said angrily at him.
"Sorry." He said but kept grinning.
"If you do imprint, tell us right after it happens." My dad kept talking as if my mom and brother hadn't said anything.
"Why? What would happen if I never told you?" I asked.
"You have to tell us. We would have to tell you everything that happens. It's not easy when you first get imprinted. I'm not trying to scare you, but it gets kind of painful if you don't know what to do."
"Painful?! I thought you said it was wonderful."
"You just have to get used to it. It's very hard to explain."
"I need to talk to Jared." I said. How could he keep something like this from me?
"It's only nine in the morning, honey. I don't know if he'd even be awake." My mom said. I didn't really care though. I'd wake him up. My mom gave me him address and I got dressed and headed over to his house.
