"Amelia, are you listening to me?"

She moved her head against the breeze.

"Of course I am mummy!"

She said unconvincingly.

"My patience is quickly tiring!"

Her mother placed her hands on her hips.

Her expression was unimpressed.

"I'm trying mummy, I really am but I'm having so much fun in the sand!"

The mother turned sharply, clicking her heels, the girl watched her disappear, unaware of real fear.

"I'll leave in a while, there isn't no rush. Besides mummy is mad, I don't want to be hit again."

So she watched the rolling waves, coming closer and closer but seven and naive didn't know tides grow stronger.

At first it was nice, the spraying sting of salt felt right, against the bruises on her leg, which reminded her she must fled.

"Mummy will be wondering where I am, I'm sorry sand, sea and bay maybe i'll come back another day."

Amelia turned to face the great grey wall, where the small worn path, could be seen no more.

Water had surrounded her, and fright set in, there was no way out, and no way in.

She ran and ran and ran until she could no more, but the tide was growing higher, she couldn't see no more.

Then her feet lifted from the ground, and her smooth long hair became tangled. A sensation she couldn't bare.

She wailed and screamed and cried until her head could no longer survive, then under she fell, the vivid blue green begun to engulf her into a space dark and empty.

Moments later, she awoke. Upon the beach, confused and startled as she heard others spoke.

Her mother stood there, head in her hands. She looked upset, extremely sad.

Amelia ran up to her, happy she returned. She wanted to stop the tears. Show her she was here.

She skipped up happily, arms open wide but as ran up to her, suddenly she was behind.

Then she looked at her hand, transparent as glass. Her whole body frozen, cold and numb.

Then she turned, a pack of uniforms assembled in fleets. Then saw herself, being covered by a sheet.

Slowly realising what has happened, she felt a hand upon her pale shoulder.

She turned and beamed as her father gleamed who took her hand as they walked off happily.
