7 January 2013

"You idiot!" I began, putting both my hands on my waist, "That was so stupid! Why the fuck did you do that! The word 'embarrasment' can't even begin to describe how I felt! Are you serious? Do you always kiss a random girl whenever you're provoked? If you do, then you have a serious attitude problem! You just made both our lives a lot harder by being so impulsive! Do you understand just how stupid that was?"

Alex nodded without looking up. I sighed. That felt a lot better.

"Okay, I forgive you," I said calmly. Alex popped his head up and looked at me.

"Huh?"

"Didn't you hear me? I said that I forgive you, dimwit."

"What? That's it? You're not gonna hit me or scream at me?"

"Nope. You're a smart person. Scolding you should be enough. Or do you want me to hit or scream at you?"

"Uh, no. But are you sure you could forgive me just like that? Other girls would've hated me forever."

"What's the big deal? It's just a kiss. It's basically just two pieces of meat touching each other. Why would I hate you forever for that? Forever's a really long time, you know?" I replied, raising one brow. Alex's confused look turned into a grin.

"Good point," he said, standing up, "I've never met a girl who thinks like you."

"Well of course," I smiled.

That's cuz I have a different past, I thought. Suddenly the door burst open.

"Are you okay? Did he do anything weird to you here? You pervert!" Jennifer screamed at Alex while checking if I'm okay.

"That was so awesome! You should've seen the looks on their faces! Like holy shit, it was hilarious!" I heard Trevor cheer from behind Jennifer. Jennifer glared at him.

"Don't encourage him!" Jennifer scolded, "and you! What were you thinking?" Alex blushed and covered his face.

"I wasn't thinking much," he admitted. Trevor laughed while closing the door.

"I bet all he was thinking at the time was that he had a pretty girl beside him and he needed to take a chance. Then BAM a kiss on the lips!" he laughed. Alex's face turned brighter and brighter.

"Trevor! That's completely not true! I swear I was just acting on impulse!" Alex desperately argued. Alex looked at me for support but I just giggled. Jennifer cleared her throat.

"Well, it seems like the two of you've already worked things out. But there's just one problem," Jennifer took a deep breath, "Daddy was there and he saw everything." Alex's face turned pale, while Trevor grinned at him.

"Dad saw everything?" Alex said, completely surprised.

"Yup, and you know what you promised him last time."

"Okay, what's going on? Is it a bad thing that your dad saw everything?" I asked Alex. His skin turned paler in reply. Oh God, what kind of mess did I get to this time?

"It's worse than bad," Jennifer said seriously, "you might not know this but Alex was engaged to Hillary, and by kissing you and declaring that you're his girlfriend, Alex just broke off the engagement. As you might've guessed, this deal was against Alex's will. So Daddy gave him another deal. The deal was that next girl Alex dates will be his FIANCEE instead of Hillary."

"What? No!" I argued. What? What the hell just happened with my life? I had a feeling that this revelation just took at least ten years away from my life. This is just wrong. I don't want to be an engaged woman at the age of 16. Come on! Jesus! God already took a lot of things away from me. Is he going to take away my right to decide who I marry too?

"But it's not fair for Lizzy!" Alex complained, "I started all of this! She shouldn't have to marry me because of my stupidity!" Yea! You go Alex!

"Talk to daddy about that. Not me," Jennifer argued. Now I have to face his parents to complain? What did I get myself into? I looked at Alex with a questioning face and he rplied with an apologetic face.

"You're kidding right?" I asked him, "I do not want to be an engaged woman at 16."

"I'll talk to dad," Alex said tiredly. Just then, the door flew open. Again.

This time it hit Alex on the face, causing him to stagger backwards. There was a middle aged man standing beside the door. His body was well build and taller than Alex's. He was wearing a tux with a rose on the pocket. Behind him was a petite girl wearing a purple dress. She was just a little taller than Jennifer, but her face looked very young. You could even say that she was baby faced. She popped her head out from beside the middle aged man, and the second she saw Jennifer, her face brightened.

"Jenny! You've grown so much! Where's Lexie?" she said cheerfully.

"Mommy! Why're you here? You should've stayed in Europe! You know you have a weak body!" Jennifer exclaimed. Wait, what? Mommy? That girl's a mom?

"Why hello Alex. Looking as pathetic as usual, I see," the middle aged man said, looking at Alex. Alex held his hand infront of his nose. Seems like it got hit by the door.

"And who's fault is that?" he argued.

"Don't be like that, honey. That's your own son you're talking to," Alex's mom said, softly nudging who seems to be her husband. I stood there awkwardly, staring at the weird reunion. Trevor cleared his throat loudly. Everyone's eyes turned to look at him. He grinned.

"I introduce to you, Alex's girlfriend!" he declared. Shit. Oh my god. I just wanna crawl into a hole right now. Someone kill me. Just kill me already. I could see Alex facepalming and glaring at Trevor.

"Daughter-in-law!" Alex's mother enthusiastically said while smiling at me.

"Not bad... not bad at all!" his dad praised while slapping Alex on the back. The next thing I knew, Alex's mom was all over me and clinging onto me. Seriously though, she can't be older than 15. Even her actions seem childish.

"Um, so... what do I call you?" I asked nervously.

"You could just call us Mom and Dad!" Alex's mom said. Okay, I think it's going too far already. I looked at Alex for support and he nodded in reply.

"Uhh, mom, dad, there's been a misunderstanding here. She's not my girlfriend," Alex tried to explain. Suddenly the room went silent. Surprised looks appeared on his parents' faces.

"But you kissed her just now," his dad said.

"I know. That was just me. I wasn't thinking," Alex said guiltily. An angry look appeared on his parents' faces.

SLAP

The sound of his mom's hand on Alex's face echoed through the room. He looked just as surprised as I was.

"I always told you to think before you act, didn't I? You've embarassed your friend by doing that in front of such a huge crowd! Kissing is not a light matter! That is one thing you should do with the person you love! You shamed the family by doing that! What are you going to say to the crowd now when we come back? By breaking the engagement with Hillary, those people expect you two to be engaged! Do you realize that you've cause not only us, but your friend a lot of trouble too?" His mother scolded angrily. Wow, even I didn't take it as such a big deal. Alex just stared at the ground, embarassed.

"I'll take the blame. I'll just explain everything to the crowd properly. That way, she wouldn't get too much trouble," Alex explained seriously. Wait, I can't believe he's gonna take all that humiliation to protect me. I was responsible too. I could've stopped him but I didn't. It wouldn't be fair if he took all the blame.

"Why don't you go do that now, we're going home soon," Alex's father said. Alex went out holding his cheek where his mother slapped him and I followed from behind, leaving his parents, Jennifer and Trevor in the hotel room.

"Alex, are you sure?"

"Yea, it wouldn't be fair if you got dragged into all this because of me," he smiled apologetically. I gave him a concerned look, but he continued walking. When we arrived in the ballroom, all eyes turned to look at us expectantly. Alex walked over to the stage without meeting any of their eyes. I just stood there beside the stage as Alex climbed up. He grabbed the mic and I could just see his parents enter the room with Jennifer.

"Good evening everybody," he started, "I'm hear to anounce some information regarding my engagement."
