Tom wrote this poem for his little grandson:

What will you do in your life little one Will you pick up the ball and run and run Will you pick up the ball and run?

Will you always be ahead of the rest Meet every challenge and past every test Better than most or the best of the best Will you pick up the ball and run?

Or will you be slow at the back of the crowd The one never picked the one never loud Though never a bully or never a coward Will you pick up the ball and run?

Could you be gentle in manner and mind Seeing things to which others are blind Taking the pathway that few of us find Will you pick up the ball and run?

Whatever you do in life little man Blood of my blood, clan of my clan I will always be with you wherever I am When you pick up the ball and run and run, when you pick up the ball and run.
