She pushed with tiny fumbling hands Through the endless folds of soft fur coats, Her trembling fingers slipping through, feeling for space, Tiny snowflakes falling and melting away on her hot pink cheeks. She heard them calling far behind her Searching through the darkness for a peek of pearly child

Lucy made her way to the front of the crowd, pushing between two portly gentlemen, whose dark brown furs smelt of whiskey and mothballs. Peering around the larger ones elbow, she saw a huddle of young men on the hanging platform, dressed in the revolutionaries silver ribbons and bells. They tried to stand tall with dignity, but fate pushed down hard on them, and they held each other like brothers.

She peered through into the new world, Gasping at the unbelievable sight that spread out before her

"GEO!" She shrieked, as her older brother was marched onto the platform, draped with ribbons. He, and the four other men with him, were forced into the huddle with the golden buts of a tall, fierce-looking Generals rifle.

Silence filled every corner of this place, Except from the gentle rushing of the fir trees (Even they are on her side) Which whisper secrets to one another in the wind. She took a step, and felt the cold bite at her. She turned around, and pulled out a dark brown fur Which she pulled around her, a soft, sweet-smelling cradle

Lunging forwards, she was grabbed by the two men either side of her. Their coats were wet and made musty by the snow, and their strong hands grabbed at her skinny limbs like cats that catch a tiny bird. She cried out for Geo, her trembling hands reaching out for him.

She sobbed, as on by one, the rebels were shot like prize birds. Her brother was last, and when he was shot, a poppy of blood seeped into his back: a terrible beauty which only made her loss more.

Hanging limp as a dead sparrow, she thought of her future, with the bitter tears of loss stinging her eyes. Her brother had been her sole provider, her carer, her friend, and now he was gone. So... What happened next..?

And so, Lucy stepped off into Narnia, A world of adventure and excitement awaiting her
