Last night I slept with the thought of you in my arms, Our silvery limbs entwined Each dreaming under the long moon As it shone through the branches of the tree by my window
Not burning bright throughout the night, But shimmering; an iridescent beacon Not giving life, as the sun, But keeping it going, Lulling it into safe, warm sleep, Giving it peace, As the eternal night light.
It paints us with silvery shapes, Sewing - to us - lace made of light A delicate cobweb of moonbeams
It chooses to shine on us A sweet pair asleep, both glittering inside Illuminated and shining In this here, this dark house In this dark hour
As long as we lay, colourless and small In this sweet place of calm, Dreaming of each other, Feeling each others silvery touch, The moon will continue to shine; My sleeps eternal cradle
