Have you seen the dancing shadows? They flicker and they glide, They tap on wooden window panes, And across the room they fly,

They jig upon the mantelpiece, And creep under tatty old rugs, They pirouette on the cobblestones, And hide behind pots and jugs,

They tap on little windows, And swing on the chandelier, They come out as you're sleeping, When you couldn't even know they're here,

They leap across the armchair, And climb to the tip of Mount Mop, They salsa on leather sofas, And over the tub they hop,

Have you seen the dancing shadows? Across the room they flew, But they don't dance much anymore, Now they're watching you.
