Shiny scales shivering, shifting, A deadly head slowly lifting,
Amber eyes dilate with cunning, For the rodent she stalks, no point in running,
Slithering forward, a flame in her eye, Hunger is immediate, the colours lie,
Her camouflaged body gracefully slides, Scales like jewels, more valuable than many hides,
A moment later she lunges ahead, Impaling the little creature stone dead,
Her prey swallowed, she slithers away, But she will be back, to kill another day.
