She had been aware of the danger in this place for some time now, inch deep claw marks were slashed across various trees, and blood spatters were lying across the dry ground, she was sure of one thing, this was no ordinary beast.
By the repetitious pattern she guessed there was only one of them, but it was big, very big, too big. This creature was vicious too, there were no territorial scent marks or scat, only the blood and claw marks, it wanted something, it had a purpose, but she couldn't figure out what.
She had been alone for a long time, long enough for her to get used to not communicating, just thinking. She hadn't seen her pack in years, but it was for the best, if those who were after her knew who she was close to, they would kill them, she couldn't let that happen. She was alone, and had to be, for the good of the pack, she had left them behind.
There was something wrong, there was nothing, no life, no animals, they were all hiding, they were all very scared. This was bad, she was the only living thing out in the open, and she had seen what happened to the creatures the thing saw. One thing was obvious, it was find a place to hide, or meet the same fate.
