Nick and I woke up about an hour later to Alexia screaming at the top of her lungs. I quickly got up and held her. She wouldn't stop crying. I felt so bad. What if something was wrong? Is she ok? There were so many thoughts racing through my head. I rocked her slowly in my arms but she just squirmed. I started crying. I'm a terrible mother!
"Here, let me take her." Nick said as he walked over and took Lexi (Alexia) out of my arms. She instantly calmed down and stopped squirming. I wiped the tears out of my eyes.
"How did you do that?" I asked.
"I don't know, she just calmed down." Nick chuckled.
"I think I know." I said.
"What?" Nick asked.
"Lexi is a daddy's girl." I said softly.
A huge grin spread across Nick's face.
"Well she does have a loud mouth like me." Nick chuckled. I giggled when he said that. We sat in silence until we heard Andrew cry and that made Lexi cry and we were just in a big crying fest. I picked up Andrew out of his crib gently.
"I think they're hungry." I told Nick.
"Yeah, I think so too. One minute, I'll be back." Nick said. He sat Lexi in the crib still crying and walked out the door. I gently rocked Andrew and quieted him down a little. I could tell they were both hungry. They haven't ate for like 2 hours and they are supposed to eat around every 2 hours when they are new borns. A few seconds later Nick came in with two warm bottles for the babies. He gave a bottle to me and picked up Lexi and fed her the bottle. I carefully put the bottle in Andrew's mouth and watched him feed away hungrily. When he was finished I picked him up and burped him. Nick did the same with Lexi. We sat them both in the crib and lay down together on the cot in the hospital.
"The doctor told me we could go home today." Nick suddenly told me.
"Oh wow! This is great!" I exclaimed excitedly.
"Yeah, I know." Nick replied.
"What time?" I asked.
"Right now if you want."
"That's perfect!"
"I know, I can't wait to get the babies home!"
"What time is it?"
"Almost 1pm."
"Ok, I'll call my Mom to pick us up."
"Ok."
I picked up my phone and dialed my Mom's number. When I got off the phone with her I explained to Nick.
"She said, she is heading here now and she is going to take us to our apartment and she also said if we needed anything she babysit the babies." I said.
"That's fine." Nick said. Shortly after my Mom walked into the room and helped us get ready. We got the babies into the car seats and buckled them into the car. Nick sat in the front seat with my Mom and I rode in the back with the babies incase one of them or both started crying. We were lucky they both stayed quite the whole ride. When we got home I got Lexi and her car seat and Nick got Andrew and his car seat. My Mom walked up to the door too, with our stuff in her hands.
"Can you please open the door?" I asked my Mom.
"Sure thing."
My Mom opened the door and I was shocked to see what was in the house.
"Surprise..!" Everyone screamed.
