I woke up at 6 am to the smell of pancakes and screaming babies. I hated when the babies cried. It made me feel like they were in pain. I got up from my bed as quickly as possible and went into the nursery room and picked up Andrew from the crib. I put him on the changing table and changed him. He was still crying and I knew he wasn't hungry because Nick just fed them. Then the light bulb went off in my head. Pacifier! I searched all over the room for them and couldn't find them. Dang. Then out of no where I spotted it. I quickly picked it up and put it in Andrew's mouth. He stopped crying and now it was Lexi's turn. I changed her diaper in the same order as I did with Andrew. She calmed down right after that so I just put her back in the crib with Andrew. I sat in the rocking chair beside the crib and sang to them. I heard Lexi yawn. I knew they were close to falling asleep so I kept on singing. I didn't notice Nick leaning on the door frame listening to me. I utterly stopped. That was so embarrassing. I'm probably a terrible singer! I could feel my cheeks heating up. I probably looked like a bright red tomato with my blush!
"Why did you stop? Your singing was beautiful." Nick said quietly. I looked down in the crib and saw the babies were asleep.
"Your just saying that because I'm your girlfriend." I said.
"No I'm not, it's the truth and yes I know your just my girlfriend. I want you to be more than the mother of my child and my girlfriend. I wanted to wait but right now is perfect. You and I are here with our cute little babies. How more romantic can this get. (He chuckled.) Annie, I want you to be my wife." He paused as he got down on one knee with a little black box in his hand. I gasped. I just sat there like a crazy person.
"I knew I would fall in love with you some how that first day we met at the park. After I met you, you were all I thought about and talked about. Annie, you are special. I have never been with anyone so talented and beautiful and that has the brains. Annie, I love you and I want you to be my one and only wife and I want you to be the mother of all my children. Will you do me the extraordinary favor of marrying me? Marry me, Annie." Nick said so beautifully. I knew what I wanted. I loved him. I wanted to stay with him forever.
"Yes." I said breathlessly. He slipped the ring on my finger and got up off of one knee. He picked me up out of the rocking chair and I wrapped my legs around his waste. He planted kisses all over my face as he whispered I love you over and over again. He sat be back down on my feet and I just hugged him in a tight embrace. We stayed like that for awhile just wrapped up in each others bodies.
"This is perfect." I sighed...
