It was now Monday after school and I was going over to Becca's house to see her since she got out of the hospital today. I still haven't found out what secret Nick has but, I'm still not sure if I want to find out. I walked through Becca's front door after knocking and her Mom answering. I went straight to her bedroom where she was laying on her bed.
"Hey Becca. How have you been holding up?" I asked.
"I have been pretty great. It's just I get really bored and I can't wait to get back to school to see my friends." She smiled. She was strong enough to smile a big complete smile now. You could tell she was progressing a lot.
"Yeah I bet, it probably gets really super boring in here if you don't have visitors 24/7." I said.
"Yep. It gets quite boring here."
"Can you walk yet?" I asked.
"No, I'm waiting for the doctor to give me the OK. He said that I'm going to be a little unsteady since I haven't walked in awhile and since I sprained my ankle." she replied.
"Cool. You should be able to take your sling off soon too."
"Yeah, he said tomorrow! I can't wait. It bothers me a lot."
"I bet. Well, I should get going. I would stop tomorrow but Nick is taking me bowling after school tomorrow but I'll definitely be over Tuesday." I smiled at her.
"Bye." She called out as I walked out of her room. When I was walking out of her room, I ran into Taylor. Great. Ugh.
"Annie, wait. I have to tell you something before you waste your time with Nick and fall in love with him because what I'm about to tell you will break your heart if you care about him enough."
"What? Just tell me. I'm tired of ignoring you so tell me.Please." I pleaded.
"Annie, Nick....has..." she started chocking up with tears.
"Nick has what?" I demanded.
"Cancer." she said quietly. I felt everything spinning. Tons of thoughts raced through my head. Why? How? When? Why? I could feel tears prickling in my eyes until everything went black.
