This poem was inspired by the song "Anything For You" from the band "Ludo"
I have ventured to the farthest reaches of cold space And walked on worlds where brave men dare not roam Spoken to the dignitaries of a foreign race And wandered till I could not find my home, Yet through it all, I thought of naught but me and you . . . I have battled fiercely with the devils and the dead Killed all the magic, mythic beasts of lore Fought ferocious armies as the fields all ran with red Seen tragedies and travesties of war, Yet through it all, I thought of naught but me and you. . . . I have crossed the mortal plane and communed with the shades Gazed deep into the depths of fields of fire Sailed across the river Styx and then on into Hades Confronted the dread demon of desire, Yet through it all, I thought of naught but me and you. . . . I have climbed to mountaintops, awash in pure white snow Found secrets there that I could never tell Watched as leprechauns performed their yearly summer show Seen dragons, elves, and unicorns as well Yet through it all, I thought of naught but me and you. . . . I have written music that could make the angels weep Heard sirens sing their song for days untold Listened to the lullaby that put the world to sleep Made melodies of times both new and old. Yet through it all, I thought of naught but me and you. . . . I have seen so many things, yet sought for none but you And still there is much more that's left to see Yet now I know that I could never hope to continue Unless you come and share them all with me.
