This poem was written for @burrahobbit 's #colourchallenge contest using purple, but it might also have some environmental message. Oh well.
Roy G. Biv was a merry lad, but not the only one There were, in fact, two more cads who came out of the sun One came before and one came after, but both were clever guys For both of them were quite well hidden from prying human eyes.
The youngest one was Infra R. Ed, a mostly friendly fellow His teachers said that he was good, punctual, and mellow But the older one, Oh, what a chap, had quite a different tale Yes, Ultra Violet had caused humans to tremble and to quail.
Though Ultra might seem nice at first, you could very quickly see Let him stay too long or get to close and it ends quite painfully He once cooked a man to ashes as he lay upon the sand The man had hoped to get warmed up, but it soon got out of hand.
But worse than this, bad as it seems, we could have still more sorrow For if dear Ultra continues to grow, there will be no tomorrow Or even worse, his nasty uncle by the name of Cos Mic Ray Will come to visit and humankind will perish in a day.
