I wanted to share this with you o' gracious opussians. It is to do with blame for your problems. There are two types of control loci; internal and external. I hope to enlighten you to have better opinions on blame (not that your opinion is bad! I just wanted to aid it!).
External locus of control: where if something goes wrong, 'it's not your fault! It was something else!' You blame others and make the same mistakes over and over again. You externalise the problem.
Internal locus of control: where if something goes wrong, you did it, you take the consequences, you work out how to stop it from happening again. You internalise the problem.
An example of this: I rent hand in my homework. [external] My printer was broken so I couldn't print it out for you. [internal] I forgot to do it and will take any punishment you decide to give me.
Basically, if you internalise the problem by saying it was you who caused it, not something else, then people will see you as more mature and respect you more, rather than externalising it and people thinking you have an excuse for everything and are not trustworthy of doing something.
