This sounds completely absurd, but it is true! Let me start for the beginning.
Homosapiens evolved to poo squatting down at about 35 degrees. Lets fast forward to some thousands of years later to the creation of the toilet.
The toilet. A revolutionary device that allows you to poo in comfort. WRONG! This device creates the feel of pooing whilst at a 90 degree angle. Not what we were designed for. With this in mind, lets have a quick biology lesson.
Your large intestine. The end(ish) of your digestive system. At the very end of it, there is a muscle holding it up to prevent the movement of the waste product. When you have a straight posture, the muscle has not contracted. When you are in a sitting posture, it contract slightly. When you are squatting, it is fully contracted, allowing the waste product to move more freely.
There are many diseases that people believe mainly occur from low fibre diets. WRONG! They mainly occur from pad toilet posture, which causes you to put more pressure in your abdominal area. This is why sitting can be bad for you.
Worry not! The good folks of squattypotty have designed a stool for your toilet that fits around the thin stem and slides out when needed. It provides the healthy 35 degree angle that we need and is a very sturdy structure.
