Think of a man who’s hanging from a cliff. Though the rock rips his chest to blood, and the cliff tears his flesh apart as the wind comes to drag him down, he’ll cling to the rock until there’s no more life left in him! Likewise a person who truly understands the deep sinfulness of his heart and knows the dreadfulness of Gods wrath coming towards him; such a person will cling to Jesus, desperately with all his might, knowing if he lets go, he’ll surely be destroyed.
