Chapter 17 Party Time
It was time for the party.. Mum was getting nervous and pacing up and down the hallway. *ding dong* Our first guest! I looked at Mum. She nodded her head slowly. Earlier on that day, I had found out this was Mum's first party in 7 years!! I opened the door and there was Andrew. "Hello Jessica!" I gave Andrew a quick hug. "So.. I see you've been settling with your mum!" I smiled and invited him inside. Mum and Andrew started talking about the town getting modern and too many roads being built; while I grabbed the fresh lemonade, out of the fridge. I handed it to Andrew just our next guest arrived. Michele. "Hi! Welcome! Please come in and sit down!" Soon all of the guests were sitting down in the lounge drinking lemonade and giving mum her gifts. "Ok mum. Now you have to open your presents!" Mum looked at me, like I was crazy. "Go on.. Don't be shy!" Mum looked at the first present. Jacks. It was a matching set of earrings, a bracelet and a necklace. Daniel. His gift was a top that said No.1 lady! Queen of the world! Michele's present for mum was a new makeup set with 35 different eyeshadows.. 5 different blushes! 4 lipsticks, 2 eyeliners. Lipgloss. Powders. AND MUCH MORE!! Lucy's gift was a pair of black high heels. Finally... It was my turn. Mum was shocked when I pulled out the wrapped present from my pocket. "You don't need to thank me!" I giggle. Mum fingered the present. Tracing the lines of the pattern with the tip of her finger. Eventually; she carefully peeled the wrapping off. "Jessica! It's just what I need!" Suddenly, I'm surrounded by a warm body. I hugged mum back. For the next three hours we were dancing and eating. More dancing. MORE eating! It was SOO fun! When everyone was gone, Mum and I went upstairs; to bed. "Mum?" "Yes sweetheart!" "Can I sleep with you tonight?" Tears filled in her eyes. "Really?" I nod. She wraps her arms around me and I wrap mine around her. I slept so peacefully! I thought I was hibernating!
