Why yes, Venice was a splendid choice
My dear, a truth I must voice
With no-one here to judge our naked noise.
Yes the bands are back in England, dear
And we find ourselves in a land, here,
Of passion to sail in with gondolier.
There's a thousand things to do
With what and why and whom
But I'd rather spend the day in this hotel room,
Where I can know you through and through
And survey the splendid view
Of the crack across the ceiling beside you .
We could browse the boisterous markets
And be the various targets
Of cajoling we may oh so much regret
But let's screw the tourist fun
(If you'll excuse the careless pun)
Let's paddle through our own lagoons as one.
Basilicas can wait another time
I'd rather I was your and you were mine
As in one tangled mass we leave Mark's shrine
To blush in shame of our sins
And the Italian lust within.
