I met you just the other day,
Love at first sight
But I know it'll never be,
Hearts will never take flight.
See I just met you in the city
As you walked on by
In among migrating crowds
Trying to get to work on time.
Your head was bowed bashfully
Before you looked my way
As if afraid of the bustling world
That you braved every day.
Our eyes met as you smiled at me
And gave a playful wink
Before your gaze returned to the ground.
My head had no time to think
As my heart leapt over the edge,
Flying past my heels
Into a sumptuous pit of love,
An amorous, reviving sea.
But I know it's all so silly
And I'll have to just walk on,
Flick to the next chapter,
Fast forward over the song.
Yet that doesn't stop me
Wondering over your name
And crying over countless stars
