I wear your memorial round my neck Glinting, clacking, pearly white; You were so faithful, wonderful and true I could not part with all my might. I could not bear the morbid thought Of your wasting, festering face, Of worms which nested in your head, Of cold recognition which warmth had replaced. I thought I'd take a little piece To stay with me now you had gone; I take it with me everywhere In sleep, in waking. Days bygone Fixed around my slender neck As if a thousand vampires fight To suck at the jugular you once kissed There lie your teeth, would you like a bite?
