LOCAL DOCTOR RENOVATES TOWN'S OLDEST AND MOST EXPENSIVE HISTORICAL TREASURE
Doctor Rowland Faxton and his new wife Amelia have invested over $50,000 in turning the dilapidated Van Der Beere Colonial pile into a functioning family home once more. The house, with extensive gardens had lain abandoned for many hundreds of years before being restored by the local man who recently inherited it. His distant ancestors had vacated the home as they believed it caused bad luck.
'Of course, these are old wives' tales. I am sure that my family will be more than happy and prosperous here.'

We are all settling well here in our new home. The renovations are complete and a woman's touch added, the perfect place to raise your grandchildren. Rowland has erected the most wonderful tyre swing at the end of the garden, hanging just over the river. It's a wonderful place, Mother, you'd love it here. The baby is coming along nicely. It'll be due soon and we can't wait. It'll be brilliant to have another other than the two of us here. Dear Mother,
Well, Virgil's almost two months old. I still feel no attachment to him. He's just a bundle that makes nothing but noise and smells. Rowland is besotted with him, I don't see how. All he does is eat and sleep. How can someone love something so small and helpless, so pathetic. The midwife said it was just a phase and I'd snap out of it within a week or so. But I feel like I want nothing to do with him. He made it more than perilous bringing him into the world and now he's here I just watch him and feel empty. If I feel any other emotion it's loathing. When he cries I just want to leave him to it. When I put him down he just snuffles like some sort of piglet. When he feeds he disgusts me, milk dribbling down his chin, mouth lying open, burping. SCANDAL: MOTHER'S BLOODBATH IN VAN DER BEERE HOUSE
The bodies of Virgil and Amelia Faxton were found today in their home on the edge of town. The three month old was found drowned in the family's bath on the first floor and his mother was found shot dead on her bed further down the hall. It appears that the boy was murdered by Mrs Faxton who subsequently killed herself. She was rumoured to have suffered from post-natal depression. However, many are blaming her husband Dr Rowland Faxton for the massacres. Despite the fact that he was out of town at a conference in Washington DC. Many suspecting townsfolk are suspicious that this was simply a front and that he killed his family due to Amelia's increasing coldness. Dr Faxton was unavailable for comment, having abandoned Van Der Beere House after burying the pair to live with an aunt in Belfast on the east coast.
