It's funny how fear follows us through life. Well not funny haha but funny as in its almost unbelievable. Honestly, how often have you switched off the kitchen light only to go bounding up the stairs for fear the Devil incarnate comes snapping at your heels? I can safely say I've been doing that for donkeys now. Or felt that blind panic when you see a ginormous spider in your room? Even worse, the blind panic after said spider can no longer be seen.

Fear can crush us, take a hold of our hearts and minds and squeeze them, rendering us useless from the inside out. It has the ability to make us run or make us freeze, make us a puppet on a string. Make lives flash before eyes, make the most rational being a drama queen who is certain that their days are numbered at the metaphorical hands of a pigeon. Yes, pigeons are scary. Haven't you seen the glint of evil in their beady little eyes?

If we can master this fear we could be masters of the universe. Indestructible, invincible, an impregnable fortress. Yet, would Man get bored? Would we be at a loss with no Magnito to our Xavier, no Lex to our Clarke, no Skeletor to our He-man to be defeated by the power of Greyskull?

In short, is fear good or bad? Even more pestering and annoying, is it both? Is it both essential and detrimental to our existence? Remember though, if you sit on a fence too long you'll get splinters up your bum.
