A queer little fellow
Showed up on our step today
With a little note about him,
How he is a baking stray.
'Hello my name is Herman
And I'm a sourdough friendship cake.
I'm going to eat you out of house and home
Until my cake you make.
Miss Libby brought me over,
Your neighbour next door,
I'm going to spend ten days right here with you
While you feed me more and more.
Just fill me up with flour
And stir me around and around
And on day ten I'll make a cake
Then pass me further on my rounds.'
I'm quite unsure about this intruder,
Mum thinks he's rather sweet
And has promised to look after him.
But I think his character's more deep,
I think that in the dead of night
While he bubbles away,
He'll come to life, causing destruction
His imprisonment he'll repay...
