Love is not blind,
Love blinds you,
Binds you, a slave to its whims,
Fevered, foolish,
Seeking to please
Committing its sins.
Hacking, carving,
Bull amongst china,
Eager to feed, to sustain
The wretched cuckoo
In the robin's nest
As it suckles you, feeds on you, drains.
Destruction exemplar,
Crazed, in a frenzy
As you do all you can to hold on
To this fleeting euphoria,
Intoxicating parasite,
While all your true loved ones mourn,
Until the harlot,
Once virginal cherub,
Painfully relinquishes its grasp,
Gasping for breath,
Maddening withdrawal,
From a drug for which you didn't ask
And your blindfolded eyes,
Awakened anew,
See the carnage this Jezebel makes,
How you've scarred your fellows,
Burned relationships to the ground
Ashes of the True Love left in your wake.
You try to rebuild them
As phoenix from dust,
The Vestal you burnt as a witch
Under the imposter,
The masked living poison,
That sordid mascara ding maverick.
So rebuild your Babel,
Right your wrongs
And be blindfolded no more.
Lest next time your fortune
Run oh so dry
And you're not washed up on the shore.
