The little string of ocean
Lies coiled upon your desk,
The delicate clasp undone
As it fell from your neck
Forming swirls and loops
As if a signature,
The new one you have used
For thirty odd years.
They were your something new,
Today my something borrowed
And my something old, a piece of you,
A piece of luck for my new tomorrow,
A part of the love I have known
For the past 7300 days,
A love that has been manifested
In so many different ways.
And now I take it with me
Perhaps one day for my own little girl
As Pachelbel beckons me
Into my new world.
