I was only picking flowers Just minding my own way, Artemis and Athena, In the meadow we did play.

I was quite a catch you know, Apollo, Hermes as my suitors. Yet unbeknown to me I had another; Dark, young Pluto.

He captured me and dragged me To the bowels of the Earth There to make me his bride Beside the Styx's murk.

My mother's shame, my mother's sorrow Leave the green Earth bare, She weeps and searches for the daughter She tried so hard to preserve.

Now I'm doomed to remain here For four months in the year, My name no longer mentioned By mortals who live in fear

Of being dragged to Hades, There to meet the Fates. So beware the beautiful Queen of the Underworld Soured by vengeance and hate.
