Wakey Wakey
Rise and shine,
To the table
Double time,
Slippers on,
Dressing gown,
Stairs two at a time.
Going down
To our breakfast,
Food galore,
Pancakes, raspberries,
Spreads we adore,
Tea, coffee,
Orange juice,
Never mind a diet
Just let loose.
Whilst a munching
From cover of eye
What should we
All a-spy?
Ten greedy eyes
Watching back,
Hungry, shivering
From the wind's attack,
Watching the food
Go down our throats
While gales ruffle
Their feathers and coats.
'Oh give us a piece.'
They seem to whinge and whine,
'We're so hungry and we thought we'd come
To watch your majesties dine.'
Some pancake drizzled in syrup
Hovering at my lips,
'Please, oh please, we can't even buy bread!
Just give us a bit.'
'Did they pay the fee to watch us eat?'
Dad gesticulates.
'No, they're dogs and chickens Dad.'
'Well then let them eat cake.'
