Lay me down beside you
The lion and the lamb
It's hard to keep so still
In this strange bliss, to keep so calm,
For many have devoured me,
Many more before you came
Have taken chunks to strengthen them,
To fuel their fiery manes.
But if we lie here softly
And mention not a word,
Just drink each other in
With affection gone unheard,
Perhaps the lion in you
Beside the meek one sitting here
Can learn to morph to Charming
And love me year by year.
