I cling to you, the hope you give As I take these unknown steps. You promised me you'd stand by me, Didn't promise any less. A vow that's stained and sealed with blood You so willingly gave, Love defying hate and man And hell and earth and the grave. So I cling to you, the faithful one, To help me stand up tall, Take it on the chin, be there for them And stay firm for them all. My hope is in you as you show me a path, A path I am willing to take, A path that is righteous, a path that is good, An honest path hewn for my sake, A path that'll heal and mend and mould, A path that will guide me true, A path that will wipe away tears and scars. My eyes are fixed on you.
