0.75 oz Scotch Whiskey 0.75 oz Cherry Brandy 0.75 oz Sweet Vermouth 0.75 oz Orange Juice Orange slice for garnish

Prep. Work

1) Pour all of the above ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. To give it that cold taste.

2) Shake well (Ie. for more than 10 full seconds.)

3) Strain (pour with the lid on) into a chilled (somewhat cold) cocktail glass. (To keep that shit cold! Freeeeeeze, biatch!)

4) Garnish with an orange slice. (To be posh.)

History

The Blood and Sand is one of the few Scotch cocktails that is a true classic. The actual history of it is somewhat shaky, but it is accepted by many that it was inspired by the movie 'Blood and Sand'.

The original film was produced in 1922 (starring Rudolph Valentino), remade in 1941 (starring Tyrone Powers) and then again in 1989 (with Sharon Stone). I've never actually seen the film, and I'm honestly not going to bother.

The cocktail itself is a beautiful one with a touch of sweetness.

Suggestions

'Cherry Heering' is a great option for the brandy and fresh squeezed orange juice is definitely recommended. So, I mean grab a knife, cut a slice of orange, and squeeeeeeeze it. Like you were squeezing an ass cheek. You know, that sort of squeeze! ;)
