Moon
The man wakes and looks out the lunar module window. He is on the Moon. He sees the earth beaming back at him, silent and subtle as it hangs in the midst of a sea of darkness. The very planet he's dwelt on for so many long years is now a foreign land. Sentenced to life for the robbery and murder of a young lady, the man has been deemed to live on the moon, survive and perish until death itself arrives at the man's doorstep. Choices defined his life. He is alone. No prison or 4x6 inch cell. No inmates. Nothing but pre-made meals set to last 100 years without spoiling. He is alone. God is not with him. He is alone. The moon is his home and will be for the remaining time left. All is silent and black. The man known as Jefferson Cooper is alone and a dead man. A forgotten man. He is alone and forgotten, with a name that is soon to be disintegrated for all of eternity. He is alone, Jefferson Cooper is alone on the Moon.
