Chapter 2
"How are you going find her?" Rosie asked anxiously as Kelly strolled across the yard, a frown set on her face. "I'll walk." Kelly said, opening the front gate and walking briskly towards the upper fields. The horses whinnied as Kelly and Rosie went by, clearly wondering where they were off too at such an early time in the morning. " Kelly stop! Your being stupid, we'll organise a search party later on today!" Rosie said firmly. "Stupid? Your calling me stupid? If anyone's stupid it's you! Your horse died and it's like you don't even care!" Kelly snapped. Rosie's face dropped and her eyes filled with tears. She turned around and ran back to the house, tears streaming. "Rosie wait!" Kelly cried. But it was too late; Rosie had run off and it didn't look like she was coming back.
The grey horse snorted, scanning the horizon. All he could see was grass. He scraped his hoof on the dry grass, his throat burning with thirst. Giving up he dropped to the floor, closing his eyes and shutting out the world.
Kelly climbed up yet another hill, scanning the fields below. A couple of horse Kelly didn't recognise looked up at her in wonder. Kelly ignored them and ran down the hill running towards Keenly river, a place Whisper enjoyed drinking from and swimming in the cool water. Though when Kelly reached the river there was no sign of the grey gelding. Kelly's heart sunk. She sat down and cried, not wanting to move; to go anywhere else.
Whisper lay there, still and silent, thinking about his life before. What had happened to his friend Felice? Was she ok? Whisper grunted, lifting his head. He had to get up. He put out his front legs and staggered to his hooves. Whisper walked forward, stopping after a few seconds to listen to the sounds around him. He flattened his ears and snorted as he heard a low rumble growl; there standing in front of him was a cougar. One prepared to pounce.
Kelly walked towards yet another field. This time though she saw something which made her burst into a series of shrieks. She pulled out her phone and made a call.
"Rosie!! Rosie please, I'm really sorry and that but you've got to listen to me! It's Whisper..."
