Chapter 4 Obedience
"Are you prepared to leave Apprentice Cailyn?" Ah, a guard. She turned to where she estimated the door to be and nodded her head. "I... I need to have a word with Jayx before I go regarding my acting Master, first." The guard probably nodded but she never saw it; if she didn't know they were emotionally conditioned she would have thought they enjoyed leaving her hanging. "I see you're almost ready." She jumped, not having noticed Jayx enter the room. She nodded. "Yes, so... Mortia?" I was well known the youngest master and Jayx's apprentice disliked each other, he just hoped she could handle it. "Yes, Mortia- she may be young but she completed the same training as you, and her special affinity." Cailyn didn't reply, pulling the zipper shut on her small backpack. She could feel Jayx watching her but said nothing, pulling the pack onto her back and sitting on her bed. Jayx sighed, "I'm not going to lie and say this will be easy- especially with your training, but it's not all bad." There was a hesitant pause, "And I will keep in touch." Cailyn's head shot up, her face turned towards Jayx. "You... Why are you humoring me?" That wasn't to say she wasn't ecstatic but she did wonder why. A hand dropped on her head and began petting her hair, fingers threading through it. "Because you asked Fire-Bringer." If her eyes had been open they would have slid closed after that. For some reason she absolutely loved the feel of touching him or vice-versa, actually probably the latter more. "Mm... Of course Jayx." The fingers in her hair slowed but didn't stop. "Will you accept Mortia as your temporary Master?" Cailyn fidgeted but nodded. "Yes Jayx, I promise not to get overly aggressive." The fingers tightened in her hair as he asked the next question briefly. "And you will, under no circumstances remove your blindfold." She gasped. "Of course!" He pet her one more time then sighed and turned away. "Be ready to leave in an hour, I'll have Mortia waiting for you."
End Iwane.
(Yups, 'part 1' is short but the story is just beginning- this time in a place we all know and love.)
