To be gifted is a curse A hardship That must be assessed Thoroughly
Because gifts aren't given without a purpose And no purpose is purely Right Just
To be a 'hero' is to have A target, painted in red and white To be the one who takes the credit The one who takes the blame
Because just knowing you can help Leaves you stuck Because there are only Two choices
'Good' And 'evil' Because there's no such thing As a neutral Super
Being 'gifted' means you Must fight Fight for the right to be free For the right to sleep soundly To kiss a spouse goodnight To tuck your children in
Because being 'better' Means that you'll never be 'Normal' Never be the one who picks up the groceries Or paints the front-yard Fence
Because 'heroes' are 'Gifted'
