@Nom For the themed challenge:

Emma awoke from her nap. She felt better, she felt the dark cloud had lifted but something was wrong, she couldn't feel anything. She could see her body, hear the traffic outside, but her body was numb. Everything seemed the same. Same curtains, same dirty clothes on the floor, same glass on the bedside table. Thats when she saw them, the pills, the letter and remembered. Remembered how she felt before sleeping, remembered the pain, remembered the tears. She had felt lost, alone and above all unclean. No amount of counselling could make her forget what happened. Even her faith had failed her. It was her only way out.

Slowly, she felt herself lifting, floating above her peaceful body. Was this it then, was this what it's like in the end. She had felt nothing no pain just falling asleep like when she had that general anaesthetic. Drifting, drifting off to another place, a safe place where no one can hurt her now. Still floating she was looking at herself, she looked better dead than she ever did alive. No more crows feet, no more dark circles, no more worry etched on her face from the unseen scars. She looked away from the serene figure laying on the bed, guilt now filling her up. Her parents had done all that they could to get her through but they knew she would never be able to forget, those scars were deep and would never heal. The trial had finished her, even though he was behind bars she still was made to feel like the guilty one, the one who had been asking for it.

She was free now, free as a bird, no ties, no apologising, no guilt, no more hiding. She began to fly, leaving her body, the room, her whole life behind. She was neither in this world or the next. Not that she knew what that was. She didn't know where she was but she liked it. She liked the rush of air over her weightless body. The sensation overwhelmed her, her body felt as if it was on a cushion of air. She soared higher, the further she went the more magical and enlightened she became. Mind and body were one. Twisting and turning she didn't know where she was going or if she could stop. Suddenly she was conscious of a strange feeling on her back, between her shoulder blades. Her wings began to unravel. They were beautiful. Their pearlescent feathers glistened in the light. Then she knew she was flying through the stream of life. She had embraced her fate and she felt alive again.

Apologies for the grammar, any spelling mistakes. It was just an idea I had to get down
