Every night he sat upon the white book shelf Listening to the wonderful stories being told There were stories of animals, dragons and pirates Stories of adventure, fun and finding gold
The lonely, tatty old teddy still had his welcoming smile He longed to look at the books too But no one had played with him for a while
But then one magical winters night An enchanting story was read It told the tale of a wishing cat Left out in the garden shed
He desperately wanted to be loved again So made a wish upon a star, the brightest in the sky His dreams came true the very next day He was so happy he could cry
It was the night before Christmas, when everyone was asleep That tatty old teddy looked out He saw the biggest brightest star shining above This was the wishing star no doubt
He closed his warm button eyes And reached up so very high He felt a warm fuzzy feeling Radiating from the star in the sky
It made him feel all cosy inside No longer tatty and threadbare He fell asleep on the white book shelf With the feeling that somebody cared
The next morning, he opened up his warm button eyes When he heard excited screams of glee He was no longer on the white book shelf But beneath the Christmas tree
He had a brand new bright red bow The children squealed with delight They played and cuddled tatty teddy Each and every night
