So I'm off to the Olympics With the hoards of crowds How long will it take me Don't care, I'm proud
Once in a lifetime experience For me anyway I'm hoping my son Will be inspired today
I'm always using That old classic tale Fail to prepare Prepare to fail
so I'll hope he'll see That hard work really pays And remember the jubilation When Team GB win in a blaze
It's not just a trip To London for him Of life lessons It will be full to the brim
The cynics among you Think money could be better spent Of course it could But this is an arousing event
When was the last time You can safely hang your Union Jack Without the usual connotations Of the BNP flack
This year despite recession Our spirits have been lifted high Jubilee celebrations Now C'mon GB you cry
No matter your age Colour or creed This sporting event Brings us together, agreed
So today I'll moan About the transport and queues Pay exorbitant prices For food and some brews
But that's not the point Of my day ahead It's about the atmosphere, experience And inspiration instead
