Oh what a super day Oh what a super night Thousands of young voices singing Bringing, joy, hope and light.
Och.... I'm too tired to write in rhyme!
Well I managed to get there fine and dandy, courtesy of my phone, as my Sat Nav is so old it didn't recognise the address. Also, at the last minute, another mum came with me, as she wanted to visit the same gallery. The National Portrait Gallery, another tick off my London list. It started very serious our wander round, but ended up with us laughing at the installation with the rubber feet and wondering why anyone would want to watch David Beckham sleeping for 20 minutes. And what's more exciting is, on the way out, I heard a ..... " meow, meow!"
Who was it? It was too busy to work out who it was, but I'd love to know.... or maybe it was a genuine cat being let out of a bag.
The performance at night was great, all the children sounded fantastic in the arena with the lights, the music and guest acts. Especially the children's African choir... Yep... the ones that sang at Buckingham Palace for Sir Gazza of Barlow. Their story and the charity is truly inspirational. My eldest was quite glad I believe when it was finished, it had been a very long day for them all.
But getting to the point of this wee blog....
One of the other mums, who used to live in London said go straight through the centre on the way back as it was easier than the way I came in. Ok... I thought, I've got Sat Nav, it's quieter, I've a tipsy co pilot, what could possibly go wrong?
Well, all seemed to be going well then I missed a turning, Mrs Sat Nav recalculated, ended up in dodgy looking bit, central locks went down and we carried on. Mmmmmm... This doesn't look right I say as The Tower of London appears on the right side of the car! Ok, no worries, lets keep following Mrs Sat Nav, while pissing off various taxi drivers (I'm a tourist, it's allowed). Then..... Mrs Sat Nav has an epileptic fit, we'll a series of them actually, recalculating, turn around where possible, recalculating, recalculating, showing places I'd never heard of.... Mmmmmm..... shit... thats trafalgar square.... don't panic Mrs Mannering!!! For a brief moment I even considered winding down my window, flashing the eye lashes and asking the taxi driver next to me
So Mrs Sat Nav got the full brunt of my extensive Anglo Saxon language then was thrown in the back seat, and the tipsy co pilot swiftly located my phone and we were then guided by Mr Google™ Maps. And relax...... nope.... road closed..... over the Thames, down the Thames, over the Thames.... . Ha ha! I'm laughing now, as Mr Google™ tells me to take second exit again... At Trafalgar Square.
Yes.... it's good to get lost as I got to drive down the Mall, bringing back memories of the marathon, wave at Liz, annoy some more taxi drivers, enjoy Harrods lit up at night and at last see a familiar sign that tells me the big M road home is close.
At least we made it back before the school coach at 1am, but I think my tipsy co driver may think twice before accepting a lift from Miss Eddie!
