What happened to our frosted world of Narnia? Come back please!! It shouldn't rain at Christmas, its miserable .... and... it means this is the first time since we moved here 10 years ago that we've not had our Christmas picnic at the top of our very big hill. So... Plan B has swiftly come into action. Lots of nibbles, mulled cider and wine, fake fire in TV, cheesy Christmas music, (yes I admit I'm rather liking the Micheal Bubble Christmas album at the mo) silly hats, games and friends= a jolly good afternoon ahead.
I love Christmas Eve, more so than the actual big day. It's our usual festive jaunt up the hill, its watching my sons excitement year on year tracking Santa and getting ready to go to bed. This year he has actually baked Father Christmas some special cookies. Yum yum. We film him putting out the carrots, mince pie, and ahem...Santa's special beer. We all watched them yesterday and it was lovely to see the change but the innocent magic is still there. We even watched some Christmas morning film, even now we were oh... what's in that parcel? all these years later. But, I fear this may be the last year , being almost 9 he'll believe. Here's hoping he'll keep the magic alive for his little sister. So its Plan B this afternoon, Polar express (yup every year) supper, then tracking Santa on NORAD- if you've never done it, you should. Even after my lad has gone to bed, I still look- I'm just a big kid at heart. Then once they're in bed, its Mr&Mrs Claus time, but that'd be too much information for you.
So lovely Opussians, Christmas is a time for family and friends and to switch off from technology and enjoy physical company and conversation. So....
I wish you all a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS, enjoy the next few days, Christmas Kisses and extra hugs for those alone in Christmas Day.
