How brave you are At such a young age An inspiration to many Take centre stage
A shining light In a backward state She fought for justice It's not too late
We can't blame the media That she was shot in the face We can't blame conspiracy Wrong time wrong place
She was targeted by the Taliban For freedom of speech Fighting for an education Equality to teach
Blame it on tradition That girls have no say Is that right In this modern day?
Are you so blinkered You'll use foreign policy as an excuse It's all the 'Wests' fault That women are abused
She may not be the only one Who has a voice to be heard Crumpled under the veil of religion Like a wounded bird
Where does it say Girls cannot speak Where does it say They have to be meek
Which God says It's ok to execute and kill? Which God says Women have no free will?
She stood up for girls And the right to speak She wants an education She did not berate her beliefs
Yes....the media, the Internet Has highlighted her case But why the hell shouldn't they This is afterall the modern age
*apologies for the rant. I feel very strongly about this.
