At eleven o'clock, The silence will begin; It is only one minute, To remember what's been.
Stop and listen; Put down your phones; Listen to the silence; The peaceful unknown.
Maybe a bird, Will break the spell; Maybe the traffic, As thoughts dispel.
Enjoy the nothing, And remember them; The wounded, the fallen; Those brave young men.
For they gave their lives, For your freedom today. Remember them well, And the sacrifice they made.
During that minute, Reflect and ponder; How lucky we are, To be free to wonder.
When the last post sounds, I always shed a tear, And be thankful for, Those I hold dear.
Fathers, sons, Sisters and brothers Have all been lost, For the sake of others.
It is only one minute, Out of your day; Please stay silent, For we will remember them this way.
*am posting this now as I will be proudly standing next to my husband at 11 o'clock in his uniform.
