She didn't notice him staring at her But he'd watched her here before
Watched her lips on the mug of coffee Watched her reach to her bag on the floor
He liked to watch her Watch her run her fingers through her hair
Most days she just sat reading Always in the same wooden chair
She absent mindedly caressed the length of the mug Absorbed in the romance on the page
The wild and desolate moors Heathcliff's eternal rage
He wanted to be that coffee mug Wanted his lips to softly touch
He yearned for the day he'd have the courage To just say hello, and such
She looked up and smiled curious at his inquisitive gaze
His heart skipped a solitary beat While the waitress busied clearing the trays
He was rugged and handsome This curious staring man
Who sat by the bay window Next to the old sedan
Perhaps it was Cathy's lost love Alighting her to make her feel so bold
For she put down her book To find out his story untold
She got up from her chair And crossed the Persian rug
She looked down at his coffee, smiled and said "Would you like another mug?"
