21 December 2012

The frosted grass cracked underfoot as winter took hold on the night. An incandescent ice on the trees, sparkled through their icing sugar coating. It was 15th of December; the snow would be here soon. Many of the animals had already made their bed for the winter. This place was cold, only the hardy would make it through the sub-zero winter alive. The high, silver moon illuminated the exchange. The manilla envelope had reached its desired destination. There was but one name on its cover. HIS name. The shadow of deliverance retreated back in to the night, until the next time. The tiny fingers secured the envelope inside his velvet tunic of emerald green and scuttled back across the frosted grass, gazing at celestial show on display. He made his way to the solitary cabin in the woods, the moon his only guide. He had trailed this path many times before, but it felt different this time. He knocked on the door.

TAP TAP TAP

"Enter" came the familiar voice.

The cabin was always warm and welcoming. Sparsely decorated, but the fire was always burning bright.

HE was sat behind his desk, his horn rimmed spectacles balancing on his nose.

"I have a delivery"

"Very good, please...read it for me."

With that, he opened the envelope and began to read:

"Dear Father Christmas, I have been a very good boy this year, I haven't received a yellow card at school at all so I got a sleep over as a reward. I've been helping my mummy with my little sister too. I love her. Thank you for making my wish come true. I would like a new mountain bike for Christmas and a pencil case for school. Can I have some chocolate too. My baby sister can't write but shes been good too, she can crawl and when mummy says no she does as shes told. I'd like her to have some hair clips, new socks, a bath toy and a red trike because mummy doesn't like pink. She's not allowed chocolate.

Please please please please can you make it snow on Christmas day too.

Merry Christmas Santa Love Alex (age 8) X
