Cecília, loved Alfréd, but he had never noticed her. She was perhaps too 'plain' for him, not as exotic or as exciting as the actresses and artisans he kept company with. With flaxen blonde hair, cut in a simple style and pale brown eyes, she had a flawless fresh complexion. Yet she dressed older than her years, preferring to wear loose fitting dresses to hide her petite but generous figure. She was also Anna's closest confident and knew all too well what tonight meant.

She was born in Budapest. Her mother was a medium and practising witch. She was also an artist whose work focused on the beauty of spirituality. When the revolution broke out they left Hungary as political refugees and fled to Austria, where she finished school, and won a scholarship to the University of Vienna where she studied languages.

It was while returning to her homeland that she met Forgach, after his captivating renditions of Chopin's Concerto No 1 in a private sitting. The select audience, including Alfred, had enjoyed a glass of wine absorbed in his playing. Following the recital, she engaged in conversation with Forgach, and found that both her grandmother and his father had crossed paths on several occasions. She had a renewed interest in her heritage which she had chosen to suppress for so many years and began to attend his early gatherings during her brief visits. Occasionally, she too was able to relax and hear a voice but did not pursue the spirit from fear until recently.
